Wherefore Art Thou...

Good Lord - it's been what feels like ages! Life has been going by so fast these days and so have all the posts I've been missing. Hope everyone is enjoying this beginning (sort of) of summer. Here in NYC every other day it feels like Fall. It's all good cause I like boots but it feels kinda weird to be wearing them when the calender says May. I have a story post in the works but I will be doing some work travel soon and, well, I figure I'll have quite some time living out of a hotel room so I will be able to actually do something halfway interesting from there.

So in the meantime...some things I've managed to be doing between work and sleep:

I'm just about finished reading Morning, Noon and Night by Spalding Gray. It's an easy read but I like it because he is starting this life in Sag Harbor out on Long Island which isn't too far from where I go and I can sympathize with his love of the sea village and love of wanting to be surrounded by the energy in NYC too. His age (and family) led him to be able to be content there...at my age it's a struggle of sorts.

Next I'll be starting Up In The Old Hotel by Joseph Mitchell. My friend has been telling me to read this book for ages cause she knows I will like it so finally I have it in my possession! And getting it was easy...I plucked it off my dads shelf. It's a collection of stories about some odd NYC characters in some great NYC places (my favorite types of stories) and I am really excited to read this so...once I do I will tell you how it is.

Another great piece of exciting news is I've finally become a member of BAM. It's a great place with amazing artistic, creative, inspiring things going on there (look it up...too numerous to list) but the real reason I finally became a member and - I'm spilling beans but I get a week of private sales as a member - is because come the Fall they will be putting on a production of A Streetcar Named Desire and if that's just not enough to get you drooling and excited, in the roll of Blanche is none other than...Cate Blanchett. I know, right??!! She is one of my favorites and it is one of my favorite movies/plays so...I'm pretty psyched up about it.

I've also decided that the people on the 7:30am bus from my house to the train are supremely inconsiderate as opposed to the good people of the 8:45am bus. I really needed to get that out.

I was having a conversation with my Dad the other night (and on a side note - I blog about him more than anyone and he is the last person who appreciates this) and the conversation went like this:

Me: Did you see my blog about Rod Stewart?
Dad: We saw it.
Me: Am I right??
Dad: Yeah. I was just talking about that kind of stuff at work the other day. Like that MeatLoaf song.
Me: (singing of course) "And I would do any thing for love...but I won't do that..."
Dad: Yeah! Won't do what??

And then we both just shook our heads. I think that head shaking thing is a family trait.

Well - that's all I got time for at the moment. Now go read, join some art institution and be nice on the bus.
