I know I'm almost 20 years too late with this argument but there is something that has been bothering me all day. Seriously...these are the things that consume my brain when I should be doing more productive things. Why, oh why, is the lyric in his 1991 song "Broken Arrow" - "Who else is gonna bring you a broken arrow"? Why on earth would you give someone a broken arrow? It's broken. And useless. You can't launch a broken arrow at anything. I don't get it. If some guy came to me with an arrow I would definitely be weirded out and would probably not talk to that guy anymore but for the sake of this argument if some guy came to me with a broken arrow I would be beyond offended. Am I not good enough for an intact arrow?
Rachel Hunter should have known right then and there. Any guy offering up a broken arrow...well I wouldn't expect that one to last.
Anyway...hope you are all thinking about way more important things today than I.
Am loving all your musical thoughts - gives me much to comment on! I have many bones to pick with Rod Stewart, they begin with his spiky highlighs and they end with his recent standards collection.
ReplyDeleteDid you know that his greatest regret was performing, "D'Ya Think I'm Sexy?" Seriously. I heard it like third hand from someone's uncle.
Ha! Yeah - that hair is pretty annoying. Seriously! This is the type of stuff that pops into my head!
ReplyDeleteReally? It's kinda a corny song. No Rod Stewart - we don't want your body. No Rod Stewart - we don't think ya sexy.
Maybe it was meant as a symbol of his broken heart? You know, like Cupid or something.
ReplyDeleteOr, maybe it's just dumb.
I agree! WTF w/ a broken arrow? My mom loves this man and I dont know why.
ReplyDeleteI've tried to think about what it might symbolize but in the end...I think it is just kinda dumb. It must have sounded like a good idea at the time! Oh Rod.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, if you google broken arrow, a bunch of stuff comes up. I clicked the first link and got Native American symbol for peace...still doesn't work, does it?
ReplyDeleteNah...somehow the idea that Rod Stewart was thinking about a Native American symbol of peace...
ReplyDeleteMaybe he just liked the idea of a song called Broken Arrow. Maybe that's a fav movie of his - haha.
