When I was a kid my brother had a VHS tape that had a collection of cartoon vignettes from the 1930's. We would watch them all the time but one in particular always stood out to me. It was released in early 1936 and even now, whenever I hear anything about the Depression Era (which is a lot these days) I think about this cartoon. Anyway it was about two poor kids and their poor mother and - I'm, like, welling up here - the good hearts of their neighbors. I wanted to hug and squeeze and adopt these cartoon kids. Being about the same age as they were when I first saw it I remember crying "Whhhhhy?" to my mom over and over again and hearing the sad reality that this was the unfairness of our world. The world is still unfair and probably always will be but with neighbors like these...it can be a little bit better. Enjoy this celebration of the happy places your mind can take you. Have a great weekend!
Aww, I remember this cartoon. I think I have this on VHS too. I think your brother and I both had all these old cartons tapes. I need to dig them out and get em on DVD
